  • Photo Restrictions: Photos can only be sent after chat acceptance, account verification, and 24-hour account age requirement
  • Rate Limiting: We limit the number of messages and new chats per day to prevent spam and harassment
  • Reporting System: Users can report inappropriate content, which is reviewed by our moderation team
  • Blocking: Users can block other users to prevent further communication

By using Roots, you consent to content scanning and moderation for safety purposes.

Privacy Settings

You can control who can message you through your privacy settings:

  • Allow anyone to message you
  • Restrict to verified users only
  • Restrict to people who attended the same events
  • Restrict to people in your city
  • Combine restrictions (e.g., verified users who attended same events)

You can also set additional restrictions for receiving photos. These settings can be changed at any time in your profile settings.

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Content Moderation Data

When you report content or when content is flagged by our moderation systems:

  • Reports are stored securely and reviewed by our moderation team
  • We may temporarily store flagged content for review purposes
  • Content that violates our policies may be removed and users may face consequences as outlined in our Terms of Service
  • We do not share individual reports with third parties, except as required by law
